NOC has been issued by Environment Protection Department (EPD) for Rawalpindi Ring Road development

A no-objection certificate (NOC) for the construction of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) has been given by the Environment Protection Department (EPD) to mark it as an environmentally friendly scheme. This also clears the final hurdle in the project's start of construction. Federal Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, giving specifics of the construction work, confirmed that the work order for the construction initiation would be issued in January. On the basis of a public-private collaboration, the scheme will be established by the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). The complaints put up by members of the public were also addressed and the route was redirected from the direction of the graveyard. The authorities have also initiated the groundwork for the acquisition of land around the RRR, where at the request of local businesses, a special economic zone will be created. Commercial plazas under the project will be built on both sides of the ring road. Many projects are coming with Rawalpindi Ring Road Project. The idea of laying a rail track along the road to link the existing train lines with the new airport was also abandoned. The Chairman RDA said the mega project is being launched by the PTI government to ease traffic, control urbanization and shift the small industrial units outside the city under the private public partnership basis.
