According to a news report posted on 23 November, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced its receipt of bids from four consortiums consisting of international town planning firms to revise the Islamabad master plan.As per the officials of the CDA, the contract for the revision of the master plan of Islamabad will be awarded to the lowest bidder company after the completion of the Civic Agency's financial assessments. The four consortiums were also revealed to consist of members from 11 corporations. The project's PC-I is expected to cost PKR 600 million and will be awarded to a qualified company with the lowest bid. The Capital City Islamabad’s first master plan was prepared in 1960 and was expected to be upgraded every 20 years. To date, as many as 40 selective improvements to the master plan have been made by successive administrations, but without adequate consultation by the town planning agencies involved.
